Rule Addition

Hello,

The mods have decided to add a new rule going forward:
Artists can submit up to three prompts but are limited to one (1) smut prompt.

We have run the J2 and Wincest Reverse Bang a few times now and have noticed a trend; The smut prompts, or ones that the artist clearly states they want smut, are typically the last to be claimed.

With this rule addition, we are trying to make it easier to ensure all pieces find a home.

Please feel free to DM the mods if you have any questions.

Thank you for your understanding.

Edit:
This is not a dictatorship. If we have enough people opposed to this new rule we will review it and ask for suggestions. In the meantime, we're going to see how well it does.

That's not to say you can't discuss the prospect of smut with your author, but don't demand it, or bully anyone into something they are not comfortable with.

This is my first dance with all of you, so not sure how much my opinion will matter but...

Personally, I'm not for restricting creative freedom. Period. In most cases, even if it's to avoid the triggers of others, or intended to protect/aid those being restricted.

I think when any of us do these sorts of challenges, we have to accept certain realities, a major one being that the more specifics we put on something (must/must not include graphic sex, only so-and-so tops/bottoms, can't have this, has to have that) the less chance our art/story prompt will be claimed. And if it's not claimed, we simply have to accept that.

Ultimately, my preference would be no restrictions, with a friendly reminder that the more must/must nots you have the less likely you are to be claimed - and that being claimed is not guaranteed.

No matter any outside opinion, you are the Mod - you are going to have to decide how you are most comfortable running your comm/Bangs.

That being said...I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with you on a couple of things.

First, in my opinion - and I'm going to hazard a guess the opinion of others - it is not your job to make sure all pieces are claimed. Do we expect you to do your best at presenting all the pieces, and allowing late-comers a chance to nab the unclaimed ones? Yes. Do we expect you to make sure something that isn't entirely in your control (apart for you committing to writing any unclaimed pieces yourself, which...uh, no) is achieved? Absolutely not. You saying it's your job to do so is something you are putting on yourself.

Second, and I'm going to be perfectly blunt here, most of what I saw left unclaimed was bad art. Not trying to be mean, just honest. Though, again, this is my first rodeo so I can't speak of previous bangs.
Now, what would seem to back the trend you're speaking of, the art I claimed did ask for graphic sex. However, I don't feel that's what kept it from being claimed, more so I believe the strict restrictions regarding the sex was what had writers passing it by.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts on it all and I wish you luck deciding how to handle it.
